Happy 2016!

 

We would like to say thank so much to all the lovely people that helped us this year and wish all Child of Brazil and Jardim das Oliveiras supporters a great New Year! We will keep the good work and try our best to fundraise and help children in Brazil. We would like to say that we still receive donations (clothes, shoes, toys, etc) to sell in our fundraising events throughout the year. Many, many thanks everybody!

Jardim das Oliveiras / August 2015

I am very happy to say that I visited Jardim das Oliveiras in Belem, Brazil, on behalf of Child of Brazil last August.

Since the first minute I arrived there I felt very welcome. I met lovely people that work there and the children in their normal activities during the day.

I could perceive that everything is really well kept. The building is lovely and all surrounded by trees which helps the place to be cool as the temperature there is so high all year long. That makes a comfortable environment for everybody.

During our tour there I saw craft, ballet and music lessons and a lecture for mums and mums to be about taking care of their own bodies and babies. Children in compulsory education were also having their activities. They spend the day as in a crèche system, from 9am to 4pm. They play, eat and have a nap before going back to their mums and dads.

The infrastructure of the institution is amazing. They have classrooms, clinic rooms, toys room, computer lab, lectures hall, office rooms, pantry, and a big kitchen.

I will never forget the little smiley faces of those happy children being respected and valued in all areas of their development: physical; communication and language; intellectual and cognitive; social, emotional, behavioural and moral.

Thank you Jardim das Oliveiras for taking care of our Belem lovely flowers, our children (and their families)!

Sorting out donations / Cidadania em acao

The donations to people in need in this humanitarian crisis started to be sorted out. We are very happy to meet so many kind people. Thank you Louise, Monica, Anne, Hannah and Kim for the opportunity to be there with you to help in this beautiful gesture. See you soon! :)

Humanitarian crisis

We are getting ready to help out in this humanitarian crisis. Child of Brazil will share donations of clothes, shoes and soft toys with people in need. We will take donations to the Tivoli in Buckley as a group of people is organising them to be taken to Calais. The Tivoli will be a drop off point from 11am to 4pm Monday 7th to Friday 10th.

Estamos nos preparando para ajudar pessoas nesta crise humanitaria. Child of Brazil vai repassar algumas roupas, sapatos e brinquedos que nos foram doados para nossos irmaos sirios. As doacoes serao levadas a Calais. Esta nao e uma crise na Siria e um problema global. Onde estao as Nacoes Unidas? Algo tem que ser feito com urgencia. Enquanto isso vamos fazer o que estiver ao nosso alcance, mesmo que seja uma gota no oceano, vamos ajudar.

Living in extreme poverty.

 

 

" Record Investigation Report reveals the drama of Brazilian people that live in extreme poverty. Families that don't have anything to eat. They are part of the 7 million Brazilian people that are starving in Brazil, according to IBGE (Brazilian Institute of Geography and Statistics) . The TV program also shows how sexual abuse to children happens because of the hunger."

What can we do to help these poor children and stop the abuse? I would like to have the answer for this question... :(

We are over the moon!!!!

We are very, very,very pleased to say that our fair at Mountain Lane school was a tremedous succsess! Thank you everybody that supported us!

The day started in a very special way that morning! It was a full eclipse on the day and the kids were given information about it and also about how special that day would be for our charity Child of Brazil in the school assembly. The teacher asked the children what were the colours of the Brazilian flag and what do they mean. Children are very clever and answered the questions, showing knowledge about our country.

All children and staff were using clothes the colours of the Brazilian flag. I was very emotional seeing all those kids representing Brazil and especially representing Brazilian children. They were all happy to show their coloured outfits and many of them had their faces painted with the green, yellow, blue and white coulours of the flag. It was sooooo special. We couldn't be happier on that day.

We had to have a few trips from our home to the school to bring all donations received, not only from the school children but also by many friends of our charity. I would like to give a big thank you for everybody who donated items or cakes for us to sell, also all the people who went to the fair and bought some items or had a drink and a cake.

I should say we had a massive support with cakes. People could pick their favourite among a wide variety of them. We had muffins, sponge cakes and loaves in a variety of flavours. Thank you:

We would like to say a BIG THANK YOU to Mountain Lane School and all the staff that contributed their time to help us with the sale.Thank you from all the families cared for by our sister charity Jardim das Oliveiras in Brazil. I am sure their thoughts and hearts are with us.

Disney Frozen cake

 Everybody loved our Disney Frozen cake at Mountain Lane School fair in aid of Child of Brazil. We run out of raffle tickets so the school gave us another raffle book. Everybody wanted to know who was the artist for that masterpiece. Thank you Katia Hannaby! xxx

Hello everybody! It's tomorrow!!!
We are very happy and to have Mountain Lane School supporting our charity this month.
Our fair will start at 2:45pm tomorrow, so come along and grab your bargain!
We will have cakes, teas, coffees and juices. And also lots of toys (more than 70 cuddly ones), jigsaw puzzles, games, DVD's and books. We will have sweets, a Disney Frozen cake donated by our lovely friend Katia Hannaby from Doce Vida - Celebration Cakes (see picture of Elsa and Olaf) for a raffle and punch balloons.

Among our toys and over 450 books we will have some of the children's favourites:

Baby & Children's Market - North Wales

Seller fee: free (The organization of the event allowed us to have a free stall as we were there for fundraising)

Setting up time: 09:00 am

Leaving time: 01:00 pm

We arrived there at 9:15 and there were sellers setting up their tables in the big sports court at Glyndwr University. It was a nice day and we were excited to have our first fundraising event of the year. Heather, the market manager, received us with a smile and made us feel welcome. She took us to our table that was marked with our name. At this event we used our Child of Brazil t-shirts for the first time, which help us being recognised as a charity organisation. We also used videos running on a laptop so people could see some images and know what we do and who we help. We always want to make people know we are there for a good cause.

We took mostly baby's things: clothes, shoes, toys, blankets, bouncy chairs, a pushchair, a baby bath, a car seat and two high chairs. We also took some sweets which caught children's eyes as soon as they reached our table.

Time passed quickly and we had a good opportunity to raise funds to help our sister charity in Brazil: Jardim das Oliveiras. Thank you Heather, Thank you Baby and Children's Market - North Wales.

Hope we can have another chance to participate in a Market like that soon.

Hello everybody! We are very happy to announce our first fundraising events of the year. We will have a table at the Children's market on the 28th of February in Northop. We will also have a fair at Mountain Lane school on the 20th of March. We welcome everybody that wants to help us during these events. Thank you very much for your support.:) xx
